After upgrade today from Gutsy to the Hardy Beta, sound on my 1420n no longer works. I've maxed out every volume control I can find (including Surround), run through the sound troubleshooting page on the wiki, and tried purging and reinstalling the linux-sound-base, alsa-base, and alsa-utils packages as suggested above.
