Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gconf-editor
When trying to change the default action upon loading a DVD (launching VLC as opposed by the default Totem player) those changes are clearly saved and remain in the configuration tool. However, the system completely ignores the new settings. Whether I make the new values 'default' or 'mandatory' doesn't matter at all, the system seems to completely ignore the changes in the settings and keep on executing the original values. It seems to me that either the system loads the original values from a different file than where gconf-editor is saving them, or for some reason original values seem to have changed visually in the gui, but in reality they haven't as far as it concerns Gnome configuration. When I use gconf-editor to edit certain settings I expect that to override any other settings in the Gnome environment. After some research I've found that certain settings in gconf-editor don't correspond with the settings of individual applications, which basically could confirm my suspicion that there are multiple configuration files with different values in different places. Or at least something along those lines. ** Affects: gconf-editor (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Hardy: gconf-editor changed settings ignored by system https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/203877 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
