I get this on a Dell Inspiron 8600 with Hardy updated to 19th March. It
happens frequently but I can't determine a single event that causes it -
the last time it happened was after resume.

When it happens, the ALT, SHIFT, CTRL, and CAPS LOCK keys fail to work,
as does key repeat.

Last time it happened, I tried xev and it was behaving strangely: it was
constantly receiving events even when I was not typing, instead of the
normal 'keypress event' followed by 'key release event'. I could see the
key events were being recognised as I typed them but the info scrolled
quickly off the screen because of the constant flow of events.

Some minutes afterwards and with no discernible cause, the ENTIRE
keyboard stopped working. At this point, menus no longer worked (eg in
gnome-panel) and when I tried running update manager via the
notification icon (one of the few things I could run from gnome-panel)
and went to do a check, gksu reported that it could not grab the
keyboard.
