Hi again! You can mark it as fixed now I guess.
Today I found a solution to this "bug." It turns out that the high pitch sound can be (and in my case it was) the result of CPU trying to save power. The whole thing is described here: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Problem_with_high_pitch_noises#Limit_ACPI_CPU_power_states The solutions offered there didn't quite work for me, but then I found this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=480430 In this topic there's a post by 'yopnono' which says: 'Put this in the /etc/rc.local script, and reboot. echo 2 > /sys/module/processor/parameters/max_cstate Were the number is the state you like to use.' Number 2 worked for me but as I understand you may solve the beeping with a higher number too. It depends on your CPU. -- Noisy hard disk Gutsy (configuring grub is not enough) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/155142 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
