Public bug reported: Calling a PortAudio function like Pa_GetDefaultOutputDevice() returns a virtual device using the OSS backend, not ALSA. This means all PortAudio apps fail to run if anything else is using the sound device. This is unacceptable behavior in the 21st century.
In other words, PortAudio in Ubuntu desperately needs this patch: http://portaudio.com/trac/changeset/1374 ** Affects: portaudio19 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Defaulting to OSS instead of ALSA makes PortAudio apps hog the sound device https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/203596 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
