I should add in my previous comment that in ~/.fonts.conf , the
antialiasing is set to "true", but I'm wondering if there are multiple
ones to choose from, much like "hinting" is set to true, and then there
is a "hintstyle".  Looking through the man page for fonts.conf was not
helpful to me, though I may have missed something.
