I'm having this problem on an Abit IP35Pro board, but only when I have two SATA2 hard drives attached (two identical Western Digital drives: 500GB SE16). I also have a SATA CD/DVD burner, but it seems to have no effect on the problem. Having only one of the hard drives attached boots fine. Booting with irqpoll seems to fix it. I get a few errors:
ata5.00 qctimeout (cmd 0x27) ata5.00 failed to read native max address (err_mask=0x40) ata5.01 revalidation failed (errno=-5) ata5.01 failed to IDENTIFY (I/O error, err_mask=0x40) I get those errors when booting 32- or 64-bit hardy, and Foresight 2. With my existing 32-bit gutsy install, I get dumped to a busybox prompt with no errors when both SATA drives are attached. ** Attachment added: "Output of lspci -vvnn from my gutsy install (without SATA hard drives attached)" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/12697279/lspci.txt -- Unable to boot 7.10 on abit ib9 due to ata xfermode https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/172300 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
