Public bug reported: I'm running Ubuntu 7.10 on a dell M6300. The wifi chipset is ipw3945.
>From time to time the wifi connexion hangs up completely. The user space applications still work, but a strange thing happens: I can't use sudo anymore: 'sudo ls' for instance just hangs not even asking for a password. In /var/log/message, I can read this: Mar 16 11:33:37 paneole dhcdbd: message_handler: message handler not found under /com/redhat/dhcp/eth1 for sub-path eth1.dbus.get.reason Mar 16 11:33:40 paneole kernel: [ 78.552000] NET: Registered protocol family 17 Mar 16 11:33:44 paneole kernel: [ 82.596000] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): eth1: link becomes ready Mar 16 11:33:47 paneole dhcdbd: message_handler: message handler not found under /com/redhat/dhcp/eth1 for sub-path eth1.dbus.get.host_name Mar 16 11:33:47 paneole dhcdbd: message_handler: message handler not found under /com/redhat/dhcp/eth1 for sub-path eth1.dbus.get.domain_name Mar 16 11:33:47 paneole dhcdbd: message_handler: message handler not found under /com/redhat/dhcp/eth1 for sub-path eth1.dbus.get.nis_domain Mar 16 11:33:47 paneole dhcdbd: message_handler: message handler not found under /com/redhat/dhcp/eth1 for sub-path eth1.dbus.get.nis_servers Mar 16 11:39:36 paneole syslogd 1.4.1#21ubuntu3: restart. It shows that something in the kernel went wrong, perhaps the driver ipw3945 is in an infinite loop ? - logging out does not correct the problem. If I log in again, the computer halts on a black screen (probably when network manager tries to connect again) - soft rebooting does not work: the computer hangs when trying to shut down web services (apache).
