Can confirm exactly the same bug (notice the bug also happens with Alpha 4 and 5 livecds).
I too have a XPRESS 200M; when trying to switch to VT, the computer, as said, hard locks and show the last screen except a green stripe on the top. Notice that, if "save graphics mode" is chosen at start, gnome doesnt' even show up (thought it can be seen that it tries to start, since screen gets black several times), but when it stops trying at least I have a terminal available, so I was able to copy Xorg log and dmesg output. I think this is a pretty critical bug (on a pretty critical graphic card :). In Gutsy, ATI drivers worked fine (without 3D accel), even if virtual terminals where simply not usable because of wrong resolution (only a part of the screen could be seen). Hope this helps. If more information is needed, just ask, thought testing is hardly faisible with no terminal. ** Attachment added: "Xorg log (when run in safe graphics mode)" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/12693893/Xorg.0.log -- GNOME fails to load in Alpha 6 livecd https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/202643 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
