Public bug reported: The existing libmatchbox1 for use with Ubuntu Mobile and Embedded is not compiled with pango support, which results in rendering garbage (from what I have seen, a list of rectangles) when attempting to use multibyte language strings.
You can see this by installing language-installer on a UME image, and then running gnome-language-selector to install and set Chinese (zh_CN) as the default language. After restarting the device and observing that chinese tranlations are working, you will notice that any app that attempts to write a Chinese string in the window title will result in the window title displaying garbage (kind-a like the fonts were not installed.) If you change the debian/rules files to include "--enable-pango" just after the other configurations, and build/install the debian package on a UME image, then the window titles will now render Chinese characters. ** Affects: libmatchbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: ume ** Tags added: ume -- Unable to render multibyte window titles https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/202329 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
