I have the same card in some of my computers...the past couple of drivers have been very buggy for this card. The bar code thing was fixed in last months ATI driver, but you won't be able to get it in the gusty repositories...you have to get the driver directly from ATI. I think the best solution would be to give it a try and see if it fixes the issue.
