Thanks for providing these informations! You said : Hardy-alpha6 came up just fine. Do you mean that this time, after you installed Hardy from the LiveCD, you did not have any problems booting your computer? If it's the case, did you try to boot Hardy multiple times to see if it happens sometimes?
I already saw bugs with some SATA controller that caused ubuntu to boot half of the time but you also had a corrupted GRUB 15 message which means that GRUB was not able to find config files in the ubuntu partition, it really sounds like hardware failure to me. Perhaps you can burn a ISO like UBCD to scan your hard drive for bad blocks using the tools made by the constructor of your hard drive. You can also use badblocks in Linux but I don't know exactly how it works. -- Cannot finish install of Hardy alpha6 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/199681 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
