Hi... Sorry for my late reply. I still believe that this feature is important - especially for users with high resolution. Example: You want to look at pictures taken by a very old camera. Only one quarter will be used of your displaz (1920x1200). You will have to zoom in for every single picture (the same for all images taken from Internet).
As there are lots of high resolution wide screen monitors available with screen sizes above 24 inch for a low price, it's only a matter of time until 1920x1200 or 1900x1080 will be a common resolution. And I am sure that nobody likes to view post stamp sized images in a diashow.
