Running the Live CD in VMware Player 2.02 exhibits this problem. With Hardy Alpha 5 it was still possible to change to a higher resolution (I used 1024x768) in the System=>Preferences=>Screen Resolution application, despite the fact that the only Refresh Rate listed was 0Hz.
With Alpha 6 the new Screen Resolution application does not allow the change to 1024x768. The Refresh Rate is listed as 0Hz again, but clicking the "Apply" button has no effect.
