Exactly the same here. First scim has the same problems as its equivalent in Windows. Problems which has the power to drive me crazy and that I was glad to let aside by running on Linux. It's clearly not a step forward to me. Fortunately, I could remove it. Which I did and since I can't write accentuated letters as Zenigata said (who I thank by the way, I didn't know the AltGr+key shortcuts).
Hope it'll be fixed shortly, it's really annoying. But Ubuntu is still the best!
