Roberto, It seems to work for me in presentation when creating my own presentation, I don't have any .ppt or .odp files to test with. One thing that might make a difference is that background colors on slides is usually set to 'None' not to white so if using a dark background the the background of the slide becomes dark as well. Actually on 2.4.0~rc2 setting color mode to black/white makes the slide go completely black on my system.
