Is the solution/patch for the problem still not available? I have been using Firefox for about 4 years now but I found this problem after I reinstalled Firefox. I used the Google Webpage download of Firefox + Google Toolbar(2.0.0.12) to download the setup exe. Extensions installed are - English US Dictionary, Clipmarks, Foxy Tunes, Save Session, Download statusbar, Flashgot, Foxmarks and Stumble Upon toolbar.
