Public bug reported:
Some time ago I upgraded to hardy and from that point, system sounds,
like the start up music don't work. Audio from the music players is
working and it's not an issue of file format, because the players can
play the system sounds. I've updated everything and it's still not
working. Prior to upgrading, things were working, so something happened
during that upgrade. As for drivers, other than what came with the live
disc installer, nothing else was added. So the cause is narrowed down to
what ever changed during that upgrade.
