uname -r: 2.6.24-11-generic On the 32 bit machine, everything seems OK so far. Continuous playing of flac files for 14 hours did not induce an oops. With Gutsy kernel, the machine oopsed usually within 30 minutes of playing. Note that these error messages are copied by hand from the boot screen, so there might be typing errors. I don't have the equipment for getting output from the serial console.
