I can confirm this bug still exists on the latest hardy alpha release. I have uninstalled NetworkManager and I am using the rt61pci driver for the wireless card. When I go into network-admin to set the wireless settings for WPA2, it seems to save the configuration. After rebooting, the settings have changed to WPA from WPA2, while the network password is still there.
