I have the same problem, but I DO NOT use Fast User Switch applet at all. I
also have two accounts: victor and test, and the difference between them is
that one works with Compiz-Fusion, while another uses Metacity.

The above notice about actual login form being behind the white wall is
correct. Entering the password blindly worked for me as well.
