I have a similar problem on a Compaq R400. I'm running the 32 bit kernel (because I need 32 bit Java). Everything works fine on Gutsy, however it is looking for the *.fw files under different names than hardy Under gutsy, there are a set of bcm43xx* files in /lib/firmware/<kernel version> ,but these files appear in /lib/firmware in hardy.
