The Problem is:

You can work around with deleting
** (gnome-settings-daemon:12691): DEBUG: Activating xrandr plugin
** (gnome-settings-daemon:12691): DEBUG: Starting xrandr manager

Seems the redhat patch breaks the xrandr plugin in hardy
