I'd like to reopen this report. On Hardy 2008-02-28 i can see that the following services are started before gdm is invoked:
* cupsd * avahid * bluetooth * system-tools-backends This is all I could write down during two boot-ups. There may be other service. do we really need to start these services *before* gdm is started? I had another idea: why not halt the boot process when gdm starts up, and have it send a dbus message that login is ready, and use this message to continue the startup. Should give gdm all system resources. Shall I file a new bug about this? -- gdm should start earlier in the boot process https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/9828 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
