Unfortunately (in your case) this is the way things are designed. It's the exact reason that LocalHostName isn't recommended and will cause a lot of troubles. With the Hardy builds, this should be a lot less likely to occur. For all users ~/.mythtv/mysql.txt is a symlink to /etc/mythtv/mysql.txt. This means you change it in one place, it's updated everywhere.
