I'd say that someone should write a temporally patch for hardy, and that we're going to use sysfs in 8.10. When it's October I hope the errors with sysfs will be fixed and I think that's enough time for that to happen. If it doesn't happen fast enough we could always put a few Ubuntu developers on the issue and send the patch upstream.
