Public bug reported: Binary package hint: thunderbird
Thunderbird should register the .eml (e-mail message) file type (as in Windows systems). We run a small company and have just migrated a PC from Win XP to Ubuntu Gutsy + KDE 4 and we noticed that ll the messages that we had saved as .eml were recognized as "Text documents". I manually created a new file association, but this is quite a bug, don't you think? How to reproduce this bug. Open Thunderbird, clic on a message in Inbox, choose "Save as" and enter the place & filename. The program will suggest the .eml extension). Now use Dolphin or another file manager to browse that folder and go to the file properties. It will be marked as "text document" (which might be right as MIME identification, but misses sense as file-assocation). Maybe this bug should be adressed to the Mozilla guys as well, but they don't provide an installable linux version, so I thought you could change this behaviour in ubuntu.
