Public bug reported:

When I installed hardy alpha 5 the composite was enabled by default.
There are shadowed windows and other effects. But when I go to Apperance
and to Visual Effects tab, the None option is selected.

If I select Normal or Extra I get the error "Desktop effects could not be
enabled". If I try to manually load compiz from the terminal I get the
following output:
------------------------------
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ compiz

controller])

Trying again with indirect rendering:

But composite still works as I can use avant-window-navigator. I have a
fujitsu-siemens laptop with Intel GMA X3100
