Public bug reported: Binary package hint: virt-manager
Trying to create virtualized x86_64 instances on hardy 1) Host release info: DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=8.04 DISTRIB_CODENAME=hardy DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu hardy (development branch)" (alpha4 upgraded to 5). 3) package version: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ dpkg -l virt-manager | cat Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold | Status=Not/Installed/Config-f/Unpacked/Failed-cfg/Half-inst/t-aWait/T-pend |/ Err?=(none)/Hold/Reinst-required/X=both-problems (Status,Err: uppercase=bad) ||/ Name Version Description +++-=========================================-============================-================================================= ii virt-manager 0.5.3-0ubuntu6 desktop application for managing virtual machines 4) What I expect to happen: I expect a virtual machine creation to complete. This completes when I disable kernel/hardware acceleration 5) What happens: I have attached a screenshot of the failed creation, though the text is truncated (the window is not re-sizeable). I'm appending the text here: Unable to complete install '<class 'libvirt.libvirtError'> virDomainCreateLinux() failed Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/share/virt-manager/virtManager/create.py", line 617, in do_install dom = guest.start_install(False, meter = meter) File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/virtinst/Guest.py", line 813, in start_install return self._do_install(consolecb, meter) File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/virtinst/Guest.py", line 834, in _do_install self.domain = self.conn.createLinux(install_xml, 0) File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/libvirt.py", line 585, in createLinux if ret is None:raise libvirtError('virDomainCreateLinux() failed', conn=self) libvirtError: virDomainCreateLinux() failed ' My question: is this expected (eg. non-para-virtualized VMs shouldn't need this option)? Otherwise, how can this be fixed?
