I can confirm that this happens on Ubuntu Gutsy with the nvidia drivers. I'm abe to reproduce it with more or less 100% accuracy. Open two tabs, with the second one active. Run some X-application from it (I'm not sure if its all or just a few - I've seen it happen with mplayer and deluge) and X crashes. The time taken to get back to the kdm/gdm varies from time to time.
