Public bug reported:

It may or may not be related to this bug ->
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/129910

My specs:
HP Compaq dc7600
Intel onboard graphics
Kubuntu 7.10

SInce installing KDE4 through the launchpad repositories, when kdm
starts, my other ttys disappear. They're still there, ps shows that the
gettys are running, but trying to CTRL-ALT-F(1-6) puts my monitor to
sleep. CTRL-ALT-F7 brings me back to X. It doesn't happen until kdm
starts, if I boot to a prompt, they're all still there.

Things I've tried:
Changing my grub "vga=" option
Adding "fbcon" to /etc/initramfs-tools/modules
Installing only KDE4 from scratch, using the server image as a base, without
kdm-kde4. This last I tried over the weekend, and it worked until I got an
update for xserver-xorg-video-intel this morning, and now the problem has
resurfaced.

Please let me know if there's any further information I can provide.
