Public bug reported:

No problems with 2.6.17-7-generic kernel at all.

Upgrading to 2.6.17-10-generic produces a large cascade of errors that
appear to be caused by failing ACPI support. The relevant dmesg lines:

----
powernow-k8: Found 2 AMD Athlon 64 / Opteron processors (version 1.60.2)
ACPI: Invalid package argument
ACPI Exception (acpi-processor-0275): AE_BAD_PARAMETER, Invalid _PSS data
[20060707]
powernow-k8: 0 : fid 0x0 (800MHz), vid 0x16 (1000 mV)
----

Probable symptoms include hanging on shutdown, HAL hanging during
startup (does not respond to any signals; GNOME crashes on startup
claiming HAL not initialized)

If it's any help I have a Turion MT32 processor.

** Affects: linux-source-2.6.17 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
