This looks weird. What does the java stuff have to do here? Anyway,
this seems to be a completely different bug. Can you please open a new
one against postgresql-common and give me the output of

  pg_lsclusters
  sudo sh -ex /var/lib/dpkg/info/postgresql-8.2.postinst configure
