Yes, the problem exists in a completely up-to-date gutsy (I was using gutsy when I first reported it). As I said in my second post, simply resizing the window causes the dvi file to be displayed properly, but it is a bit of an annoyance to have to do this every time. I have no idea what it causing this, but I am surprised that no one else has reported it.
