Dennis: I don't think that's fair. a) Although it's in universe, this program is explicitly recommended for backups in the "Ubuntu Hacks" book. And as far as I can see, there is no other GNOME backup program recommended by Ubuntu in main. What do you want Aunt Tillie to use for backups?
b) Any backup solution is going to to be a whole-computer solution, so inevitably will have its configuration stored in /etc rather than in someone's home directory. c) I didn't "edit a config file in /etc", and nor would Aunt Tillie. She just fired up sbackup and say "Do some backups for me, please" in the GUI. d) Aunt Tillie's nephew Terry may have set up the backup system and left her to it. If I had been manually editing config files, this might perhaps be fair. But configuring a program through the GUI, even a program which requires root to run (just like, er, changing the timezone!) should _not_ produce a merge prompt. -- Dapper -> Edgy failure: sbackup configuration file has conflicts https://launchpad.net/bugs/63354 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
