Binary package hint: open-vm-tools
Testing on a VMware ESX 3.02. Connect to the local ESX server using the
VI Client and then trying to shutdown the guest from the GUI doesnt
work. The following is logged on the ESX server in the vmware.log of the
virtual machine:

Background:
Installed Hardy alpha 4. Did an update to the newest packages and also
installed the linux-virtual kernel and the open-vm-tools:

Rebooted the hardy virtualserver and tried to do a shutdown from the VI Client
causes the VI Client to tell me that the VMware Tools are not installed.
However the virtualserver is still running.
The problem is:
- cosmetic (shows not installed for the vmware tools in the GUI)
- problematic - can't shutdown virtualserver from GUI
** Affects: open-vm-tools (Ubuntu)
