thanks for your report, rhythmbox doesn't import the same directory at
least on Hardy. To test it, follow the steps you just wrote and then
quit rhythmbox and try to import the same directory, according to your
thoughts it should do it, but it doesn't and that's the right way to
work, closing this bug since isn't a bug. thanks.
