It's related to that bug yes. And all the others posted about XIM.
Basically the ubuntu SCIM package XIM section is broken and has been for
over a year now. It gets ignored because most people only ever use GTK
or QT apps these days. Java, flash, etc etc..... need XIM. UIM works
fine in XIM. Not sure about the fedora patch. Hope this can be sorted
soon. Doesn't seem too major, but affects a lot of people.
