best solution in my opinion:
change places>search for files to launch tracker search tool,
then add a button in tracker search tool (perhaps at the bottom of the
catergories side pane, or in the file menu) called "Advanced search" which
brings up the usual gnome search tool
then remove accesories> tracker search tool of course
when tracker is uninstalled, the link should point to gnome-search-tool again

almost all users will only want to use the tracker search tool
functionality, and would otherwise be confused when clicking
places>search and seeing a search tool which is different to the
tracker search they expect, and very slow at searching.

any progress on this? any chance for hardy?

Tracker should install a .desktop file that replaces places-search
gnome-search-tool
