Public bug reported:
The hardware volume buttons on my Lenovo Thinkpad X60s are working, but
in a strange manner: I can only change the volume from 0% to 49% when
using the hardware keys. Using a software mixer I am able to use the
full 0 to 100% scale. I am currently using Kubuntu Hardy.
While looking at /proc/acpi/ibm/volume , I can see the following:
Volume at 49%:
level: 14
mute: off
commands: up, down, mute
commands: level <level> (<level> is 0-15)
Volume at 38%:
level: 13
mute: off
commands: up, down, mute
commands: level <level> (<level> is 0-15)
Volume at 26%:
level: 13
mute: off
commands: up, down, mute
commands: level <level> (<level> is 0-15)
Volume at 15%:
level: 11
mute: off
commands: up, down, mute
commands: level <level> (<level> is 0-15)
Volume at 4%:
level: 10
mute: off
commands: up, down, mute
commands: level <level> (<level> is 0-15)
Volume at 0%:
level: 9
mute: off
commands: up, down, mute
commands: level <level> (<level> is 0-15)
It seems that the thinkpad_acpi module doesn't use the full scale of
0-15 for the volume changing, and apparently the scale is from 9 to 14.
Attached is the output from 'uname -a', 'sudo lspci -vvnn' and 'sudo
dmidecode'. If more is needed, please let me know.
