I installed http://launchpadlibrarian.net/11689116/xserver-xorg-video- ati_6.7.197%2Bgit20080201.bcd59010-0ubuntu0tormod%7Egutsy_i386.deb for testing and the situation is more or less unchanged or possibly even worse.
After installing the updated driver, restarted X and went to the console and the computer already froze right there. With the stock gutsy driver this only happened after trying to get back into X. Instead of the login greeting, the screen showed a bunch of strange patterns in greyscale. I restarted the computer and tried once more. The situation was now basically the same as always. Going to the VT console was possible as was a login. A complete restart of X was also possible, but going back to a running X session froze the computer with only a hard reboot as a way out. Going back to feisty version. -- [M6 LY] System lockup when switching VT's or Resume from Suspend https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/148408 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
