Thanks for your answer, can you confirm if you successfully installed gstreamer0.10-plugins-base and gstreamer0.10-plugins-good ? You can use adept package manager to manage all packages for your computer, you'll see if gstreamer plugins are or are not installed, and you will be able to install them from here if they were not. Adept package manager is in the system sub-menu of your kubuntu main menu.
