I can't use ALSA with the sound driver I'm using, so it would be have to be tested with an ALSA driver. I can get ALSA's snd-intel8x0 driver working if I allow it to load instead of my current driver, and I've tried to set sound output to OSS while that driver was loaded. It did not freeze, but I couldn't hear any sound (haven't figured out how to get it to use spdif). I don't know how to get pulseaudio to pick upp ALSA's oss emulation.
