This has continued to get me as well - it is one of the main things keeping me using Thunderbird.
I admit that the 4-step "right-click / choose "move to folder" / select folder / press enter" process becomes a 3-step process after you first select a folder. (Next time you can just press enter.) But dragging is MUCH faster. This is a major issue for me, since I don't "delete" my old mail, but move it to a large "Archive" folder. This needs to be as fast as hitting the delete key. -- Mouse pointer gets stuck as "moving" cursor...
