I have difficulties to create a shared folder with the host ubuntu and usb drives are not working by default - haven't done either operation before so theres no way to import those .blend files where the problem occurs. Besides that virtualbox supports only 32-bits guests so there are too many unknowns to make sense to this kind of approach. Hopefully this bug will be marked as 'confirmed' while it seems to be related to those formerly reported bugs and therefore this might give the developers a hint for solving the problem.
