Public bug reported:
BC stayed on UTC-7 after 2026-11-01 (tzdata 2026b). resolute's mozjs140
140.8.0-4 embeds ICU tz data 2025b, so JS Date still uses UTC-8. tzdata
2026e and the calendar-server timestamps are correct.
Impact: the gnome-shell date menu shows events 1h early. All-day events
show as 23:00 ranges, and events starting at midnight tomorrow appear
under Today.
Reproduce: with TZ=America/Vancouver, run gjs -c 'print(new
Date(1793836800000).toString())'. It prints 16:00 GMT-0800; it should be
17:00 GMT-0700.
Fix: Mozilla bug 2034823 is in ESR 140 since May 2026. Running gjs
against 140.17.0-1 from tenacious gives the correct result. resolute has
had no mozjs140 update since release, so please update it. Note that ESR
140 is still on 2026b, which lacks later changes such as Alberta (2026c)
and the NWT (2026d).
Workaround: setting ICU_TIMEZONE_FILES_DIR to the tzdata-icu data
directory corrects it in gjs.
