Update (2026-11-01): Audio became silent again. After restarting only wireplumber.service, sound repeatedly alternated between audible and silent.
A custom user service, sony-tplink.service, was running during these incidents. This service was added during troubleshooting to automatically connect the SRS-XB20 and WH-1000XM4 through the TP-Link adapter. It repeatedly checks their BlueZ Connected state and calls Device1.Connect for disconnected devices; it also powers on the TP-Link adapter if necessary. Stopping this custom service with: systemctl --user stop sony-tplink.service was followed by audio remaining stable for the observation period so far. Its automatic startup has also been disabled. This is an important potential confounding factor in the original report. It does not yet establish that the service caused the crackling, silence, or buffer errors, and a lasting fix has not been confirmed. The association between stopping the service and recovery has not yet been independently reproduced. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2172670 Title: Bluetooth audio intermittently crackles or becomes silent; restarting WirePlumber restores sound To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wireplumber/+bug/2172670/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
