Hi there, just to note that I ran in the same issue with my laptop. **System** - Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, GNOME - Asus Zenbook S14 UX5406SA, Intel Core Ultra 7 258V (Lunar Lake / Xe2, PCI 8086:64A0), kernel driver `xe`
**Firefox snap** (version: 157.0 (snap 8995), GPU stack from `gpu-2404` / `mesa-2404`) - about:support > Media: only software decoding "Supported". Hardware decoding and encoding "Unsupported" for every codec (H264, VP8, VP9, AV1, HEVC). **Same machine, same profile (copied from the snap), Flathub `org.mozilla.firefox`** (version: 159.0 (64-bit)) - about:support > Media: hardware decoding "Supported" for H264, VP8, VP9, AV1, HEVC - nvtop: video enc/dec engine at ~60% with an HEVC 8K60 stream, ~20% at 1080p **Note:** `intel_gpu_top` (Ubuntu 26.04 package) lists the GPU (`-L`: Intel Lunarlake (Gen20)) but fails with "Failed to detect engines", so I used nvtop. Hardware and system drivers are fine. The problem seems specific to the snap's graphics/VA-API stack. I ended up purging snap's Firefox and using only Flatpak (but I can reinstall it to provide logs if needed.). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2153181 Title: Firefox SNAP - AV1 hardware video decode not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/2153181/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
