**Environment:** - Ubuntu 26.04 (Resolute) - GNOME Shell 50.1 - Ubuntu Dock extension: `[email protected]` **Description:** The Ubuntu Dock sometimes displays a notification badge with the number 1 on an application icon even when there are no unread notifications. The issue affects Terminal and Discord. **Steps to reproduce:** 1. Receive or trigger a notification from Terminal or Discord. 2. Dismiss or clear the notification. 3. Observe the application's icon in the Ubuntu Dock. **Expected behavior:** The notification badge should return to zero or disappear when no unread notifications remain. **Actual behavior:** The badge remains stuck at 1 even when there are no unread notifications. Restarting Discord clears its badge, but restarting or reloading the GNOME Shell/Dock does not resolve the issue for Terminal. Disabling and re-enabling the Dock's notification counter hides the badge temporarily, but it reappears when the counter is enabled again. **Possible cause:** The issue may involve stale notification state or incorrect notification-count tracking between applications and the Ubuntu Dock.
