Public bug reported:

On GNOME Wayland, X11 clients running through XWayland sometimes start
auto-repeating a
letter key endlessly (e.g. "rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr") right after they receive
keyboard focus,
until another key (e.g. Esc) is pressed.

It happens when:
- switching to the window (alt-tab or clicking it),
- the window gets focus when opening a file (e.g. LibreOffice Calc finishing
loading a .ods),
- launching an app (seen with FileZilla: "jjjjjjjjjjjj" on open).

The repeated letter is one that was really typed shortly before the focus
change, usually
in the previously focused window. The key is NOT physically stuck: `libinput
debug-events`
recorded every press of that key followed by its release about 0.1-0.2 s later.
So the
release event is lost somewhere between mutter and XWayland, and XWayland keeps
auto-repeating the key.

Affected apps (all X11 / XWayland):
- LibreOffice Calc 26.2.6.3 (Qt6 VCL plugin with QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb)
- FileZilla 3 (wxWidgets/GTK3 on X11)

Things that did NOT help:
- Disabling IBus for the affected app (QT_IM_MODULE=compose,
XMODIFIERS=@im=none).
- Changing LibreOffice backend to GTK3 under X11 (GDK_BACKEND=x11).
LibreOffice with GTK3 on native Wayland showed the same symptom before.

Not reproducible on demand; it happens several times a day.

Steps (best approximation):
1. Type in one window (e.g. Firefox, a native Wayland app).
2. Immediately switch focus to an X11 app (LibreOffice Calc or FileZilla), or
have it take
focus while a key is going down/up.
3. The X11 app starts auto-repeating the last typed letter until another key is
pressed.

Expected: no auto-repeat, since the key was released.

System:
- Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS, GNOME Shell 50.1, Wayland session (no Xorg session
available)
- xwayland 2:24.1.10-1
- mutter 50.1-0ubuntu2.4
- libinput 1.31.1-1ubuntu1.2
- kernel 7.0.0-38-generic
- Keyboard: AT Translated Set 2 keyboard (PS/2), layout xkb 'latam'
